About
Hi, I’m Parker Mackley Revers. I’m a doer--an inventor, explorer, fighter. My story starts with my family: a mom with a huge heart, a dad with relentless energy, and a sister with rare intuition.
Over the past couple decades, I’ve learned that impediments aren’t disorders, but quite the contrary, through high school speech and debate. I learned to fight for something far greater than myself through boxing at the University of Notre Dame. I learned to tell stories with numbers in investment banking at Morgan Stanley. Afterward, at Seed Health, I learned that science isn't done until it's clearly communicated. Then I applied those learnings to OpenMat, a social map company that I founded and fundraised for. Now I work with cool startups, write, and focus on projects with a critical why.
Mind and body are one, and so I value physical learning just as much as "academic" knowledge. I trained jiu jitsu under John Danaher, a true martial arts cult leader, and drop into open mat whenever/wherever in the world. I found a love for slacklining and discovered that not just my physical balance, but emotional balance, evolved. And I recently discovered that tennis is a super fun. Surfing and dancing are on my to-do list... so much to learn...
I owe a lot to mentors like Coach Matt (boxing), Raja (Seed), and Tim (first check), and to friends like Johnny, Griffin, Bryan, Matt, even Kalem, as well as the neighborhood crew who keep me honest.
I believe in showing up to the gym, to jiu jitsu, to concerts, to whatever brings you into direct contact with reality and community. I believe in building things that challenge our status quo and move us forward towards highly values. I believe in God, the greatness of our world to come, and how lucky we are to be here. And I believe in standing up for what matters.
I've been super lucky to live in rural Bangladesh, Beijing, China, London, UK, New York, NY, San Francisco, CA, Austin, TX, Florence, Italy, and backpack across Europe and throughout India. These experiences have deeply affected my world view and make me a hardcore optimist.
Whether it's an essay or a project, I hope something here lands and changes you, even just a little bit. Then log off, get outside, and affect someone else for the better.
